A segment of a circle refers to a portion or section of a circle. More specifically, it is the region enclosed by an arc and its corresponding chord.
To visualize this, imagine a circle, which is a perfectly round shape with all points on its circumference equidistant from its center. Within this circle, a segment can be determined by selecting two particular points on the circumference and drawing a straight line between them; this straight line is known as a chord. The segment is then defined as the area enclosed by this chord and the arc that connects the two endpoints of the chord.
The size of a segment can vary, depending on the length of the chord and the measures of the arc it corresponds to.
