A dodecagon is a geometric figure or polygon that possesses twelve sides and twelve angles. It is formed by connecting twelve straight-line segments or edges in such a way that each segment intersects with two others, resulting in a closed shape. The term "dodecagon" is derived from the Greek words "dodeka," meaning "twelve," and "gonia," meaning "corner" or "angle."
Since a dodecagon possesses twelve sides, it also has twelve corresponding vertices, which are the points where two adjacent sides intersect. The interior angles of a dodecagon measure a total of 1,800 degrees, with each angle measuring 150 degrees. The sum of the angles in any polygon is determined by the formula (n-2) x 180 degrees, where n represents the number of sides in the polygon.
Dodecagons can also be classified as convex or concave depending on their shape. A convex dodecagon has all of its interior angles measuring less than 180 degrees and all the lines connecting any two points on the figure lying entirely inside it.
