DKW is originally a German motorcycle and car manufacturing company that was founded in 1916 by Danish engineer Jørgen Skafte Rasmussen. DKW is an acronym derived from the company's original name "Dampf-Kraft-Wagen" meaning "steam-driven vehicle" in German. Initially specializing in steam fittings and engines, the company transitioned to producing motorcycles in the early 1920s. DKW motorcycles gained immense popularity due to their reliability, affordability, and innovative designs.
