Əsədabad (also, Əsədəbad, Asadabad, and Abas-Abad) is a village and municipality in the Yardymli Rayon of Azerbaijan. It has a population of 1,137. The municipality consists of the villages of Əsədabad and Ünəş.[2]
The population is almost totally made up of ethnic Talish/Talysh—an Iranic-speaking people whose Sunni Islamic religion distinguish them from the surrounding Turkic-speaking Shia Azeris (in all sides but the south) and the similarly Iranic-speaking, but Shia Muslim Gilanis /Gilaks to their south.
